A NEW group is hoping to bring together members of the LGBTQ+ community from across Pembrokeshire.

Pembs LGBTQ Plus is a group for all ages, identities and sexualities, with its current membership ranging from teenagers to those in their 90s.

Open to anyone who identifies as lesbian, gay, trans, bisexual, trans, queer or questioning, intersex, asexual or aromantic, pansexual or polysexual, or demisexual, it aims to help make Pembrokeshire a safe, inclusive and positive place where everyone can feel respected and included.

Through raising awareness, offering support and guidance and hosting regular social events throughout county, it hopes to create a safe environment where people can come together for support and to socialise with other members of the LGBTQ+ community, their friends and families.

The group has already been given a £100 boost from outgoing Milford Haven Mayor Cllr Colin Sharp, and is looking at planning informal social events such as film nights and meals, information sessions with like-minded charities and support organisations, as well as larger events as it becomes more established.

The first date in the calendar is a casual meet-up in Milford Haven on Friday, June 15.

Anyone wanting to find out more, meet new people, and be part of a vibrant new collective is invited to attend.

Families, friends and carers are also welcome, as is anyone who is unsure of their sexuality, or who has not yet publicly come out.

Other action and support groups in Pembrokeshire and west Wales, who would like to fin out more about working together in future, can get in contact by visiting the website.
