A 24-year-old man has been arrested following an incident at Fishguard Harbour yesterday (Thursday).
Ambulances, police and four fire appliances, including the environmental unit from Pembroke Dock, were called to he scene shortly after 3pm yesterday.
It is understood that police stopped a vehicle which was carrying chemicals, the fumes from which made officers at the scene feel unwell.
Police immediately contacted both the ambulance and fire services to come to the port. Fire appliances were at the scene until 9.30pm, they confirmed that they had been called to a chemical incident.
Two people were taken by ambulance to Withybush Hospital for a check up.
A spokesman for the police said that the driver of the car was arrested and is currently in custody.
"Dyfed Powys Police have arrested a 24 year old male whose vehicle was stopped in Fishguard Port and examined yesterday afternoon," he said.
"He has been arrested on suspicion of producing controlled substances and remains in custody at present.
"The arrested male and two officers were seen by ambulance crew and released following examination.
"The area was cordoned off in order to ensure the safety of the public whilst enquiries were continuing at the scene."
