It has emerged that the man who stabbed a Saundersfoot woman to death in Yorkshire last year had stabbed her twice before.
John Kelly pleaded guilty, at Sheffield Crown Court last week, to murdering his wife Pauline Silveria, aged 44, on August 6th last year, following a drunken argument at their flat in Bridlington.
He stabbed Pauline 13 times before going to the pub where he confessed to other drinkers, who then called the police.
But just two weeks before the murder he had attacked her with a knife, he had also stabbed her in another attack in March. He was arrested for that attack but the case was discontinued due to lack of evidence.
Her daughter, Donna Silveria, aged 29, said she begged her mum not to take him back.
She told the Hull Daily Mail: “We only realised what he was like when it happened the first time. He had stabbed her twice before he killed her.
“He had stabbed her a couple of weeks prior to it happening. The first time it had happened was a few months before that. I took her to the hospital last time he stabbed her.
“I told her to leave him, I told her he was no good.
“She didn't stay with him at first, she finished with him, but he wormed his way back in and this happened.
“I want other women to read this and have the strength to get away from their partners if they are in a violent relationship like this.”
Pauline and Kelly were married in 2007 after a whirlwind romance. Pauline was well known in Saundersfoot as she worked in a number of bars in the area.
Her parents Jean and Cedric Hainsworth have waited months to see justice for their daughter and now await a sentencing hearing following psychiatric reports.
The court heard a psychiatrist instructed by Kelly's defence team claimed he was suffering from an “alcohol-induced psychosis” when he murdered Pauline.
Pauline’s mother Jean said: “I’m hoping justice will be done for my daughter.
“The sad loss of Pauline has had a great effect on all of our lives.”
