Clubs in the running for Preseli Bluestone Challenge

11:40am Sunday 5th July 2009

Three west Wales Rotary Clubs, Cardigan, Fishguard and Goodwick and Haverfordwest, in conjunction with Ingli Runners, will stage a new event on Sunday, July 19th — the Preseli Bluestone Challenge.

The challenge will involve two disciplines starting at Crug-yr-Hwch near Crymych.

For those people interested in a brisk stroll in some of the most spectacular scenery in west Wales there will be a fun run and walk while for the more serious outdoor athletes there is a fell race.

The fun runners and walkers will cover a seven-mile course that culminates at Bwlch Gwynt while the fell runners’ course is over a rugged 14 miles that includes ascents of Foel Eryr and Foel Drygarn The idea to stage the Preseli Bluestone Challenge was initiated in 2007 by the Rotary Club of Fishguard and Goodwick and it was joined in the venture by the two other clubs in the intervening period.
