A Haverfordwest man was ordered to pay a total of £165 after pleading guilty to smashing a pub window.

The court heard that 26-year-old Simon John Harries, of 38 Barn Street had punched a window in the Fishguard Arms, causing it to smash, on February 13th, but had intended to punch a wall.

Harries had drunk eight pints before the Wales v Scotland rugby match and had continued drinking cans after the game said prosecutor Ellie Morgan.

She said that Harries had gone into the pub, which he is banned from, tospeak to his sister's ex-partner, and was described as extremely wound up.

As he was made to leave he punched out "because he was annoyed", hitting the window and lacerating his hand, requiring hospital treatment.

Defence solicitor, Mark Layton told magistrates that Harries had lost his job due to the incident and had been scarred.

"He punched out at the wall, which if he had hit, the only person damaged would have been himself," said Mr Layton.

Harries was fined £65. He must also pay £85 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
