'Frying pan attack' woman cleared by jury

3:19pm Thursday 11th March 2010

A woman accused of attacking her partner with a stone and a cast iron frying pan has been cleared of two charges of assault.

Heather Kay, aged 49, stood trial at Swansea crown court accused of two offences of assault causing actual bodily harm.

Kay, of Hermon, near Crymych, was said to have twice attacked her then partner Raymond Kay, the second time--with the frying pan--causing injuries that required hospital treatment.

But Kay told the jury her husband had a temper and she had been acting in self defence.

The jury accepted her version of events and returned verdicts of not guilty.
