Dog owners will be fined for foul behaviour, say Tenby and Saundersfoot police

Tenby neighbourhood policing team are warning people to clear up their dog's mess or get fined.

The team have received numerous complaints regarding dogs fouling in Tenby and Saundersfoot.

Neighbourhood Police Officer in Tenby, PC Trish Dixon, said: “Residents have seen an increase in dog fouling over the last few months.

“Owners have a responsibility to clean up after their dogs, if they don’t they can be fined £70.

“All the PCSOs in Pembrokeshire have been issued with fixed penalty notices for this offence and we will be issuing them to irresponsible owners.

"We would also ask that anybody who witnesses someone not picking up after their pet to contact the neighbourhood policing team or their area or the dog warden."

I really hope they will ban dogs from the beach ALL year not just the couple of months in the summer - the beach and the footpaths to the beach are used as a toilet and its DISGUSTING and DANGEROUS
kids using te beaches can go blind from the toxacara found in faeces
I also wish these stupid owners would control their dogs - the last half term a few weeks ago I was attacked TWICE on the beach by dogs - once on south beach and once in Penally - Monday two dog owners almost came to blows after one owners dog attacked the dog that was playing quietly with his ball on south beach
PS I am a dog owner but wouldn't dream of allowing my dog to make a mess or be out of control

I am a dog owner also.
Stray dogs should be impounded, and the dog fouling laws enforced throughout Pembrokeshire. I am sick of seeing dog fouling around Milford Haven area. I recently visited a couple of towns in Manchester and noticed how clean the pavements were in relation to lack of dog fouling. I also noticed the council signs on lamp posts, with a £1000 fine threat, for the offending dog owners, along with a telephone number to report any one guilty of breaking the dog fouling bylaw.
Please bring in and enforce with similar fines, for people spitting, and litter louts also.
We need more litter bins around our towns. Pembrokeshire is beautiful, lets keep it like this for ever.
