Tenby’s new RNLI inshore lifeboat dedicated at St Mary’s Church

A ceremony to dedicate Tenby’s new RNLI inshore lifeboat will be held at the town’s St Mary’s Church today (Saturday).

The new D-class lifeboat will be named after the late Georgina Taylor, who personally donated more than £10,000 towards the build cost.

This will be the third inshore lifeboat Mrs Taylor has funded at Tenby and it will be named during a ceremony attended by Tenby Junior School Choir and The Salvation Army Band.

The new lifeboat — faster and more manoeuvrable than the station’s former D-class lifeboat — has already been put to good use, having launched four times and rescuing six people since arriving at the station last December.

The RNLI has received a further £2,000 towards the build cost that was donated locally in lieu of flowers in memory of Peter Lowe, who died in October, along with £3,000 from various other local donations.
