Shotgun man's sentencing postponed

10:13am Monday 22nd March 2010

A Pembroke Dock man is awaiting sentencing for possessing a shotgun with a shortened barrel.

Douglas Andrew Hedley, aged 57, appeared before Judge John Diehl at Swansea crown court on Friday expecting to hear his fate.

But his barrister, Ieuan Rees, said a pre-sentence report prepared by a probation officer raised questions that could be answered only by a psychiatrist.

Judge Diehl agreed to postpone sentencing for six weeks to allow Hedley to be examined by psychiatrist Dr Roger Thomas.

Hedley, of The Caravan, Ferry Lane, was granted bail meanwhile.
