CCTV captured a Pembroke Dock man shoplifting and stealing a charity box, a court heard this week.
Luke Brummitt of Treginnis Hall, Pembroke Dock, appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday morning.
The 32 year-old pleaded guilty to stealing £160 worth of cosmetics from Lloyds Pharmacy on July 14th, and a charity box containing nearly £40 from the Carew Inn on July 30th.
Brummitt was caught on CCTV taking items off the shelves in Lloyds Pharmacy, Pembroke, and 21 items, totalling £159.64, were found to be missing after he left the store.
Sixteen days later he was caught on camera taking a charity container belonging to the Jeffreyston group of churches from the Carew Inn.
When interviewed he said he had stolen because he was hungry, but didn’t realise the box was for charity because it was unmarked.
He added that his brother, who was with him on both occasions, knew nothing about the thefts.
Mark Layton, defending, said: "The money was in a sweet jar next to a pile of raffle tickets. He thought it was raffle money, at no time did he think it was for a church.
"In hindsight he felt bad about this and said the church needs money more than he does."
Sentencing was adjourned until September 27th, to allow for reports to be completed.
