The Bradley Manning Support Network is calling on individuals and activists to join in a global action day in support of the 22-year-old US soldier accused of leaking classified information.
Bradley, a former pupil of Tasker Milward School, has been held by the American army since May after allegedly releasing documents to whistleblower website Wikileaks, including a video said to show American troops shooting civilians in Iraq.
The organisers behind the website supporting the young soldier want people to take to the streets on September 16th to 19th to call on the American government to drop the charges against Bradley.
The days of action are believed to coincide with the approximate release of more army documents by Wikileaks.
Filmmaker Michael Moore recently joined the campaign and has said: “Whoever is responsible for the Afghanistan leaks is a courageous patriot who should be celebrated for bringing the truth of this war to the American people.
“Whether or not Pfc Bradley Manning is the leaker, he must be set free.”
