A Hakin man found with the proceeds of a burglary has been jailed for four months.
Swansea crown court heard how a police officer stopped Robert Britton, aged 23, in St Anne's Road, Hakin.
He was carrying a bag containing tablets prescribed to the late father of David Warrell, whose former home in Picton Road had been broken into.
Britton, aged 23, of Haven Drive, was also carrying a quantity of candles stolen during the break in.
His barrister, Chris James, said Britton had a significant problem with drink and hoped to attend a course of detoxification.
Judge Peter Heywood told Britton his life had been blighted by alcohol and he had been living a pointless existence.
Britton admitted handling stolen goods.
The sentence meant Britton was released later that day because of the length of time he had spent in prison waiting to be sentenced.
