A World War Two mine found off Skomer Island was detonated by Royal Navy experts this morning (Monday).
Milford Haven Coastguard created a danger zone and security broadcasts were sent out to shipping all morning until the device was detonated at 10.51am.
Divers from Skomer Marine Nature Reserve Underwater Department had confirmed the discovery of the device around 300m off-shore last week, with mechanical faults and inclement weather delaying earlier planned attempts to detonate the device.
The explosion was described by vessels on the scene as "An impressive blast, 50 feet high and 50 feet wide."
Tremors from the explosion were felt by vessels 1.2km away.
