Comedian Rhod Gilbert has vowed to match the money raised at a charity event he attended in Milford Haven.

The Welsh comedian was filming with female impersonator Ceri Dupree who performed at the Pill Social Centre in aid of the Little Princess Trust at an event organised by Kirsty Keesmaat.

Kirsty was keen to raise funds for the charity after her four-year-old daughter Brooke, born with ectodermal dysplasia which causes baldness, was given a custom- made new wig by the charity.

The Little Princess Trust provides the service to children suffering hair loss during cancer treatment and other illnesses.

Kirsty said she was delighted at the success of the night which raised over £2000 – a total then matched by the Welsh comedian.

“I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported the event. If it wasn’t for them we would not have raised this money which will now help other children to get wigs made,”

she said.

Pill Social Centre trustee Colin Sharp said it was one of the best nights ever hosted at the centre, adding: “We would like to thank everyone that came to the show and offered their support.”

A Little Princess Trust spokesman thanked Kirsty and her family, adding: “The Little Princess Trust is absolutely delighted by the incredible support received from the Keesmaat family. We are very grateful to them for raising so much money and for raising awareness of the charity as well. This level of support is incredible and means that we can provide another six wigs to boys and girls across the UK.”

A camera crew filmed the event as part of a new BBC1 series of Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience due to air later in the year.
