Lady Kate towed to safety

A Pembrokeshire charter boat broke down yesterday (Sunday) on the way back from acting as a support vessel in the Celtic Challenge.

The Lady Kate, a 24 metre converted ex trawler, had been responsible for the safety of four rowing boats during the rowing race between Arklow and Aberystwyth.

On the way back from the race yesterday afternoon the vessel, with 18 people onboard, suffered clutch failure just off Skomer Island.

She was towed into the Milford Haven waterway by the pleasure craft Tomahawke who then handed the tow over to the Pilot Boat Hakin.

Finally she was pushed into the Lock Pits at Milford Docks by the fishery protection vessel Morven. Dale coastguards met the crew to take details.
