SemLogistics leak still contained

Overnight monitoring of an oil leak at the SemLogistics tank storage site has confirmed the oil is still contained on site, Environment Agency Wales has said.

Monitoring, carried out by a group established in response to the leak, has so far found no evidence of the oil escaping off-site.

Based on the current findings, Public Health Wales has advised that the health risks associated with this incident are likely to be low.

Environment Agency Wales is also satisfied that there is currently no threat to the environment as the oil continues to be contained.

A precautionary air and water sampling strategy will continue to monitor and assess the loss over the weekend to make sure the local community and the environment continues to be protected.

The group, led by Environment Agency Wales and includes Public Health Wales, Pembrokeshire County Council and representatives from SemLogistics, will continue to update a local liaison group as necessary.
