Community mourns loss of two local motor industry greats

The motors trade in Pembrokeshire has been left reeling after the death of two of its long-standing and well loved members.

The sudden death of Malcolm Green of Green's Motors, Haverfordwest, on Saturday and the death of Stuart Lewis of WP Lewis and Son, Milton, on Sunday saddened both those within the industry and the wider community.

Tributes have been paid to both Mr Green, 82, and Mr Lewis, 69.

Mr Green, who was awarded an MBE in March, died at Withybush Hospital where he had been admitted earlier in the week for elective surgery. His death has been referred to HM Coronor.

His eldest son John said: "Dad was a very fair person and very genuine. He will be greatly missed - as a family we want time to come to terms with our sudden loss.

"He was very kind and loving and always had time for the family, family life was extremely important to him."

Mr Lewis, who was also well known in sporting circles, died following a short illness and his funeral will be held on Saturday, July 7th.

Mike Bradney, a long time friend of Stuart’s, said that he had lost as good a friend as anyone could have, while Dennis Lloyd, who taught Stuart rugby in school and is Pembroke Dock Harlequin’s president, said: “Stuart was a man of the very highest integrity whose word was his bond. He was a great club man and we are bound to miss a man of his calibre.”

Mr Lewis' funeral will be held at 10.30am at Bethany Chapel, High Street, Pembroke Dock and then Parc Gwyn Crematorium.

A massive loss to the motor trade, the county and above all their families. I wish anyone effected by these untimely events all my sincerest sympathy.

Two men of integrity and with the human touch. The county is the poorer for their passing.
