Bulford Road improvement scheme up for discussion

A road improvement scheme for the Bulford Road linking Johnston and Tiers Cross will be discussed by the planning and rights of way committee at County Hall tomorrow (Tuesday).

The application proposes to develop a link road, partial by-pass to the south of Tiers Cross and new roundabout junctions at each end of the realigned road, and widening of the central section of the existing Bulford Road to a 7.3m carriageway with 3.5m wide verges.

Among the main issues raised by the application are acceptability of the development, impact on amenity from noise and vibration associated with traffic, the impact on landscape and also the air and water quality during construction and operation.

It has been recommended that the application is approved with conditions including a time limit for commencement of work and detailed road designs to be submitted for approval, along with a sustainable drainage, landscaping and noise mitigation scheme.

The road scheme application will be discussed tomorrow morning.
