A woman injured in the keep at Pembroke Castle was airlifted from the top of the keep by a RAF Rescue helicopter this afternoon (Tuesday).

The Sea King helicopter Rescue 169 was called from RAF Chivenor due to the difficulty of the location.

A 52-year-old woman was said to have injuries to her right side following a fall at the 80ft castle keep and she was taken to Morriston Hospital, Swansea.

Rescue crews arrived at around 4.10pm and were at the incident for around 25 minutes.

A Western Telegraph reader sent this photograph and said: "A big crowd watched as the helicopter hovered into position while paramedics arranged the lift of the injured lady."
