A 25 year-old man has been arrested following the incident that has closed Bridge Street for much of the past two days.
At 3.45pm today Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed that a man had been taken into custody.
A spokesman for the force said: "This was a protracted and complex incident, which necessitated the attendance of many officers including specialist officers.
"We recognise that the cordoning off of the area caused disruption to local businesses and the public, but this was the minimum necessary to ensure the safety of everyone in the area – which was our main priority.
"The local neighbourhood policing team are now in the process of ensuring Bridge Street and the surrounding area is open and accessible once more.
"We thank the public and business owners in the area for their co-operation, assistance and patience during this incident."
