Hundreds gather in Tenby for April Jones candlelit vigil

A Pembrokeshire community has sent its thoughts and prayers to the family of missing April Jones with a candlelit gathering.
Around 200 people were in Tenby’s Tudor Square on Monday evening to show their support for the five-year-old’s plight, exactly a week after her disappearance in Machynlleth.
They wore pink ribbons and carried pink balloons, and stood in silent tribute to April, as Tenby's team vicar, the Rev Robb Wainwright, prayed: “Keep her safe.”
And as sky lanterns were released, he told the gathering: "Think of them as carrying our prayers heavenwards."
Nia Payne, mum to six-year-old Eleri and three-year-old Coel, organised the vigil, and said: “There are so many of us with children the same age as April. My daughter hasn’t been out of my sight for the whole week. It’s just too close to home.”
“It’s horrible thinking what her family is going through. They need closure.”
Tenby’s mayor, Councillor Trevor Hallett, was amongst the crowds and said: “The town’s blessings are given freely, and hope they will bring some good news of April. We are thinking of the family in this sad time.”
