False papers paedophile imprisoned
4:40pm Saturday 13th October 2012 in County News
A Paedophile who thought he could get in and out of the country by using the port of Fishguard has been jailed for three years for using false documents.
Richard Salisbury, aged 49, had been made the subject of a sexual offences prevention order and made to register as a sex offender “for a number of serious convictions for indecent behaviour towards children”.
The orders required him, among other things, to tell the authorities where he intended to travel to.
But Salisbury used a false birth certificate and other documents to obtain a driving licence in the name of Stephen Cassidy.
Salisbury used the licence to travel to and from Ireland via Fishguard without telling the authorities, before being caught.
At Swansea Crown Court, Salisbury, from Grantham, Lincolnshire, admitted obtaining a false driving licence by deception, deceiving the authorities by saying he was going to Holland when in fact he travelled to Ireland and using false identification documents to enter the country.
Judge Keith Thomas said Salisbury had dishonestly misled the authorities “for years and years” and had tried to avoid the restrictions placed on him after his release from prison.
