Solar plans go on display

A public exhibition for a solar farm development at Rhoscrowther will be held today (Wednesday).

Colin Murphy, director of Bristol-based Elgin Energy, told the Milford Mercury that the company wanted to develop a solar farm capable of generating between five and ten megawatts at the Wogeston farm site, but the event was designed to hear any concerns people may have.

He explained the site had been chosen as it had good access to the national grid and “while it is in a farming area, it has the backdrop of an oil refinery behind it” and would also be ‘well screened’ by hedges.

Mr Murphy added that most if not all of the consultants used in the project so far were from Wales, something the company was keen to continue.

“We want to keep jobs local in Wales if we can,” he said.

The event, which will be held at the Sports Pavilion, Hundleton Playing Fields, takes place between 4pm and 7pm.
