Dive boat mayday

9:17am Tuesday 6th May 2008

A dive boat put out a mayday call yesterday after taking on water.

The boat, the Wanderin' Star was two nautical miles from Cardigan Island and had four people on board when a mayday was issued at around 12pm.

Numerous vessels responded to the request for assistance, including the Newquay lifeboat, Cardigan Atlantic inshore lifeboat, the Gwbert rescue team and three ordinary boats in the area.

The water was cleared from the dive boat with pumps and help from the crew of a vessel called Mercurious.

The Wanderin' Star returned to Fishguard.
