More than 1,000 fixed penalty tickets were issued to illegally-parked motorists in Tenby during July and August.

Traffic wardens who handed out the tickets were confronted with aggression and abuse, said Inspector Russell Smith.

"They did an excellent job, sometimes under very difficult circumstances," he said this week.

Notices for parking on double yellow lines and in residents' bays without permits amounted to almost half of the tickets given out.

"Our summer team of traffic wardens adopted a no nonsense' approach to parking problems, and the amount of tickets issued is the proof of this," he added.
