Up to 100 spring and autumn calving heifers are being sought from farms in Pembrokeshire by the Dairy Development Centre at Gelli Aur after it lost a quarter of its herd to bovine TB.
DairyCo has opened its doors for business, replacing the Milk Development Council and promising to deliver on its mission to promote world class knowledge to Britain's dairy farmers.

Dai Lewis Auctioneers reports: Another good entry in all sections (291). Barren cows again saw another fast run, beef cows peaked at 125 p/kg and dairy topped 103 p/kg. Weaned calves and store cattle sold to another brisk trade.
The European Union should lead by example and ensure an end to all live animal transport over long distances, Welsh Conservative MEP Jonathan Evans has said.
Nominations are invited for the Farmers' Union of Wales Pembrokeshire branch's 2008 countryside award, which recognises the achievements of younger farmers in the county.

J. J. Morris reports: One of the largest markets for many years, with more than 280 stores, weaned calves and barren cows. There were also more than 600 hoggets entered, with an overall average of 148.8ppk. Cull ewes again fetched a strong trade throughout, as did calves, with the best bull topping £252 and heifers to £150.
