A PEMBROKESHIRE-PRODUCED turkey weighing 38lbs clinched the award for the heaviest stag at the recent Welsh Turkey Association AGM and awards evening in St Clears.
Carmarthenshire farmer Steve Gouldbourne chaired the 58th annual meeting and noted that it looked to be a successful year for turkey producers with ongoing support from local trade.
Winner of the heaviest stag was the Davies Family, of Cuckoo Mill Farm, Haverfordwest, while the champion bird award was won by the Scale Family, of Upper Haythog Farm, Haverfordwest
The award was judged by Dilwyn Davies, former account manager at BOCM and former secretary for the Welsh Turkey Association for over 25 years.
The association's newly elected chairman is Peter Scale, of Upper Haythog Farm.
