AN animal health expert based in Pembrokeshire has won two top industry awards. At the annual Animal Health Distributors Association Conference, Jennifer Evans, was named the top animal health advisor in the UK, after achieving excellent results in her Animal Medicines Training Authority exams.
Jennifer, who works for Clynderwen and Cardiganshire Farmers LTD (CCF), also scooped the prize for best project. "I was very surprised to hear that I am this year's top SQP!" says Jennifer.
"Now that I'm a qualified SQP I can discuss and prescribe a range of animal health products for customers, to help maintain animal health and welfare.”
Jennifer comes from a farming background and has a degree in agriculture.
"An important part of my job is keeping my knowledge is up to date,” she added.
"That means I can give good, reliable advice. I always find it rewarding working with my customers, to make sure animals stay healthy." Jenny has worked for CCF for nearly four years and is based at the head office in Clynderwen, but can often be found working in the Crymych and Newcastle Emlyn branches.
This brings her face to face with farmer customers on a regular basis and the exam is designed to help staff provide better advice on a range of animal health problems. Jenny is one of 49 qualified animal health staff working for farmer owned CCF. The co-operative has 17 stores across Wales selling farm and country products, together with a feed blending plant near Cardigan.
