Farming charity RABI received a cash boost of more than £2,700 from this year’s Pembrokeshire Show.
Show president Richard Cole chose RABI to receive the proceeds from a ladies’ reception which his wife Ann helped to organise. The reception gave young local entrepreneurs a platform to showcase their work and speakers attended from Clare Johns, The Cosy Barn and MamGu Welshcakes.
At the ladies’ reception, Ann Cole presented Helen Williams, chair of RABI’s Pembrokeshire ladies’ committee, with an additional cheque for £300 on behalf of the Pembrokeshire Show Society.
The NFU Cymru marquee was the venue for a well-attended cheese and wine fundraiser on the Wednesday evening of the Pembrokeshire Show, again arranged by RABI’s local ladies’ group.
Linda Jones, RABI regional manager for Wales, said: “I’d like to thank NFU Cymru and the NFU Mutual in Pembrokeshire for their continued support throughout show week. So many people pulled together to make things happen, NFU Cymru county chairman Jeff Evans donated the wine, with First Milk in Haverfordwest and the Snowdonia Cheese Company also donating produce.”
Helen Williams, chair of the Pembrokeshire Ladies’ Committee, added: “Richard Cole and his wife Ann hosted a fantastic reception that generated £1,335. To raise more than £2,700 over three days is wonderful and the money will help us support farming families across Pembrokeshire. Last year, RABI gave out grants of more than £26k in the county.”
