BJP reports: Less store cattle (98) but trade was better, especially for stronger stores. Best price of £798 for Friesian steers from Phillips, Croft, who also sold Charolais heifers for £752.

Steers: Charolais, £750; Belgian Blue, £742; Hereford, £740, all Phillips, Croft; Charolais, £730, Roberts, Folkstone; Hereford, £652, Roberts, Folkstone.

Heifers: Limousin, £722, Phillips, Tredafydd; Belgian Blue, £725, Adams, Little Rathe.

Fat cattle (2): A Hereford heifer weighing 510kg sold for 128ppk, and a Hereford steer, weighing 560kg sold for 132ppk, from Johns, Carne, Goodwick.

Cull cows (26): Trade again excellent with a Limousin cow weighing 700kg selling for £890 from Harries, Llandeloy. A Friesian cow weighing 640kg sold for £790 from Adams, Little Rathe. Overall average 99ppk, maximum 128ppk, average per head £606.

Calves (67): A good entry of calves sold to a firm trade. Top price of £245 for a Belgian Blue bull from Thomas, Maesygarreg. A Limousin bull sold for £228 from Llewhelin, Bristgarn, Goodwick.

BJP REPORTs: A good trade saw cows and heifers sell to a very strong trade.

Dairy cattle (58): Cows (16) average £1,240, maximum £1,950, Jones, The Elms; dairy heifers (30) average £1,619, maximum £2,280, Jones, The Elms; recorded cows (3) average £1,204, maximum £1,350, Edward, Glantowy Farm; recorded heifers (7) average £1,779, maximum £2,120, Davies, Waunmendy; in-calvers (2) average £1,800, maximum £1,800, Green and son, Llechdwnni.

Calves (507) overall average £141.49.

Bulls: £322, Limousin, Howells, Cadwgan; £315, Belgian Blue, Griffiths and son, Pantydderwen; £280, Charolais, Jones, Brynmaen Farm.

Heifers: £310, Friesian, Green and son, Llechdwnni; £258, Limousin, Morgan, Cadfan; £250, Belgian Blue, Evans, Cefncoed Isaf.

Dai Lewis Auctioneers reports: A good entry in all sections (1,782) together with the annual production sale of store lambs from Davies, Troedrhiwceir, Aberffrwd, Aberystwyth.

Fat lambs saw another brisk run, store lambs sold to a furious trade, with demand exceeding supply and culls met another steady run throughout.

Lambs overall average 128.8p/kg. Leading prices: 138.3, 136, 134.2, 133.1, 132.6, 131.5, 131, Davies, Lloyd Jack, Felinfach, Lampeter; 134.4, Davies, Pantygelli, Pontgarreg, Llangrannog; 131.7, George, Coedlannau Fawr, Gwyddgrug, Pencader.

Store lambs overall average £38.12. Top prices: £55, £54.50, £54, £52.50, 349.50, £49, £48, £45, £43.50, £43, £42.50, Davies, Troedrhiwceir, Aberystwyth.
