No cash for crisis network

The valuable work carried out in Pembrokeshire by Farm Crisis Network has been highlighted in the Assembly by county AM Paul Davies.

The Preseli Pembrokeshire AM told rural affairs minister Elin Jones of the important role carried out by the charity in providing support and advice for farmers.

Mr Davies said: “The organisation provides excellent support for farming families. It offers them support at difficult times.

“However, it is getting more difficult for such organisations to operate because of a lack of funding.”

Mr Davies was disappointed to be told there is no more money available at present to fund the work of the organisation.

“This is very disappointing to hear,” added Mr Davies.

“Elin Jones acknowledged the important role these charities play but it seems that Farm Crisis Network will have to rely on fundraising to maintain their helpline.

“South Pembrokeshire AM Angela Burns and myself are now hoping to organise a reception at the Assembly to introduce other AMs to the valuable work done by this organisation.”

*Farm Crisis Network’s helpline is manned every day between 7am and 11pm - 0845 367 9990.
