The local authority is under pressure after a man with motor neurone disease has hit out at the lack of provisions for disabled people in his town.
Malcolm Fisher, of Neyland Heights, was diagnosed with the condition in 2007.
He says the lack of ramps and drop-down kerbs in Neyland make it dangerous for him to venture onto the streets.
“It’s almost a 30-minute journey for me from the house to the town centre,” he said.
“Early on I have to come off the kerb and travel on the road for most of the way.
“To make matters worse, some kerbs are dropped in stupid places, such as at the Kensington Road crossing, which is a blind spot when crossing the road.”
Although Malcolm, aged 56, originally raised the issue with Pembrokeshire County Council last year, and more recently with local councillor Maureen Molyneux, he has been told he will have to wait for improvements to be made.
“The council plans to start work in April but can give no guarantees.
“It’s frustrating. There is a lovely marina nearby which I can’t even get to.”
A council spokesman insisted the issue was of ‘high priority’ and authorities were very hopeful of addressing the issue in April.
