Letter addressed to Bernadine Rees Chair of Hywel Dda University Health Board, and copied to the Western Telegraph, by south Pembrokeshire Assembly Member Angela Burns.

Dear Chair, As many of the public will already be aware, the Health Board are proposing to relocate the GP Out of Hours Service to Withybush and for the A&E service to be GP led.

At the meeting of the Community Health Council (CHC) at Milford Haven Town Hall, on January 8, questions were raised at the Public Forum by Ashley Warlow, chief officer at the CHC and a member of my own staff team, regarding the future of A&E services at Withybush Hospital.

The verbal response that they received from Hywel Dda University Health Board’s county director and commissioner for Pembrokeshire was that A&E services at Withybush would remain open 24 hours a day and that the services provided there would be no less than those provided at Glangwili Hospital.

I would be grateful if the Hywel Dda University Health Board will verify, in writing, the commitment made verbally in the meeting that not only will the A&E service at Withybush Hospital remain open 24/7, but that the services provided will be no less than those provided at Glangwili.

Because of the extraordinary amount of public interest and concern in this matter, I am putting this letter into the public domain through the good offices of the Western Telegraph.

I look forward to hearing from you.
