Package containing white powder found at sea

A suspicious package has been found floating in the water off the coast of St Davids.

St David's Coastguard and police were notified of the discovery at 3.05pm yesterday, when a Venture Jet tripper boat spotted the unusual package and hauled it on board.

Skipper and co-owner of Venture Jet, Beth Swan, told Western Telegraph how a passenger on board cut open the plastic packaging to discover a white powder.

Coastguards went to meet the boat where the crew and sight seeing passengers waited and the package was handed over to police at St Justinians.

Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed that a suspicious package had been found off the coast of St Davids to the North of Ramsey Island, between The Bishops and Carreg Rhoson.

The package has been sent to forensics for identification.
