A CONCERT showcasing young musical talent in Pembrokeshire was held at Pembroke School recently.

‘A Celebration of Schools’ Music’, part of Pembroke Dock’s Bicentenary celebrations, was organised by the Pembrokeshire Music Service.

The concert was led by Chris Llewellyn and featured the Pembrokeshire Schools’ orchestra, concert band, brass band, symphonic brass, percussion ensemble and big band.

Playing to a full house, the programme varied from modern favourites by Michael Jackson and the theme from ‘ET’ by John Williams, to classical standards, such as ‘Suite for Strings’ by John Rutter to the ‘Bossa Nova’, and even a symphonic brass version of ‘Calon Lan’.

Compere for the evening was Phil Thompson, and the Bicentenary Group chairman, Pam George thanked the musicians, conductors and organisers for making the evening such a success and for their contribution to the town’s 200th anniversary.
