A CARE worker from Solva completed the London Marathon on Sunday, raising more than £2,000 for the NSPCC.

Pete Shea joined 36,000 runners on the streets of the London, finishing the 26.2 mile course in a time of five hours, 24 minutes and 39 seconds.

Pete said: “I’m really pleased, considering I only got my place in January.

“I also sustained an injury to my right foot and knee three weeks ago, but with sports massage and acupuncture over the last couple of weeks I was fit for the day.”

A number of fundraisers were held in the village, including a bake off, a raffle, a Spanish evening, coffee morning, fun run at Solva CP School, and a spring fashion show.

Pete would like to thank the local community and businesses for all their hard work and support in helping him to reach his fundraising target.
