A STUNNING image of Broad Haven beach has made the short-list of the RNLI’s “My Coast” photography competition.

The competition - launched in September last year – challenged budding photographers to capture what the coasts of the UK and Ireland mean to them. RNLI volunteer lifeboat crew member and professional photographer Nigel Millard short-listed the top ten competition entries, which were uploaded to the charity’s Facebook page for the winner to be decided by a public vote which closed yesterday.

The winner will be informed within two weeks, and invited to receive their award at the RNLI’s Annual Presentation at the Barbican in London on May 22.

Among the images in the running to win is ‘A quiet moment’, taken at Broad Haven by Philip Hobbs of Llandrindod Wells.

“It was at the end of the day, the beach was clear, the tide was coming in and a girl wandered in to the frame of my picture,” said Philip. “The image really sums up the beach.”

The competition winner will receive prizes including an Epson R3000 Compact A3+ printer, an Ewa Marine CAF100 Rain Cape and an iPhone waterproof housing.
