COMMUNITY group ‘Haverfordwest at its Best!’ held its third annual Easter Egg Hunt and Bonniest Bonnet competition in the town on Easter Saturday.

Setting off from Castle Square, families enjoyed an Easter Egg trail around the town before eggs and bonnet prizes were presented in the grounds of Haverfordwest Castle, with refreshments provided by the Paul Sartori Foundation.

‘Haverfordwest at its Best’ aims to increase the vibrancy of the town by organising events and improvement projects, and by exploring ways in which local residents, businesses and organisations can work together for the greater good of the town centre.

In addition to the Easter event, the group has organised a river and riverside clean-up, with an afternoon of river based activities, and Haverfordwest's first Walking Carnival.

“We recognised there was a need for increased footfall and affordable activities in Haverfordwest,” said the group’s chairwoman, Christine Whelton. “We really want to see more fun and more vibrancy in the town centre.”

Committee member Sarah Llewellyn wished to thank local traders, the Haverfordwest Chamber of Commerce and Valero for their contributions to the group’s work.

“I would like to thank all our supporters for making this Easter event a success,” she said. “As usual we were blessed with splendid weather. It was a great family day out and a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the Castle grounds.”

The 2014 Walking Carnival is on Saturday, July 19. The theme is “Hollywood Heroes and Heroines” and the event will be based at the Riverside Shopping Centre, where free entertainments will be on offer. The procession will set off from Old Bridge Square and do a circuit of the town.

The group is always looking for more volunteers. For contact details or to find out more, search Facebook for the ‘Haverfordwest at its Best!’ page.
