REPRESENTATIVES from Fishguard and Goodwick Town Council recently met with the property manager of Brains to discuss the future of the Abergwaun Hotel.

The mayor, Councillor Mike Lloyd, the deputy mayor, Cllr Richard Grosvenor and the town clerk Sarah McColl-Dorion sat down with Gareth Johns on Tuesday, July 15.

It follows the unsightly shutters saga which saw metal sheets used to board up the windows of the empty premises on Market Square. At the time Brains said it was for insurances purposes, but the shutters have since been removed and the hotel secured from the inside.

Speaking at town council later the same day, Cllr Grosvenor said: “Very little came out of the meeting.

“Mr Johns did say Brains are actively marketing the property and over the past six months they have had a number of people who are interested.

“Beyond that we couldn’t really draw anything else out of him.”

Cllr Lloyd said: “We probed him for over an hour but he was non-committal and the only concrete information we got is that he would update our town clerk in three months time on the progress of the marketing campaign.”

The Abergwaun Hotel is currently advertised for sale online with a freehold price of £165,000. It includes an 'L' shaped bar, games room, restaurant, catering kitchen, nine letting bedrooms and a five bedroom flat.
