THE QUINS is calling on all pubs, clubs and organisations in Pembroke Dock to help make this year’s carnival the biggest and best.

Pembroke Dock Harlequins RFC 2014 Carnival and Fete will take place on Saturday, August 2.

It is hoped the whole town will get behind the event as Pembroke Dock as the town continues to celebrate its bicentenary in style.

Organiser Mike Scourfield said: “This year is a special year for Pembroke Dock and we want to make this carnival the biggest and best it's been for many years.”

The procession will meet at 12.30pm at Albion Square, stepping off at 1pm, heading along Bush Street, Merrick Street, Dimond Street, Water Street and London Road to the Quins.

All entries can have free insurance as long as they register by Saturday (July 26).

There are prizes for the best floats: 1st £200, 2nd £100, 3rd £50 and the prizes for walkers are 1st £50, 2nd £25, 3rd £10.

Mike added: “We are calling on all pubs, clubs and organisations within the town to make an effort and build floats and dress up in fancy dress and walk the procession.

“Any soap box builders are welcome to show off your cars.”

Back at the Quins there will be fair rides and stalls, with Vibe School of Dance, Pembroke Borough Band and Bongo Clive performing on stage.

A pub five-a-side football competition will be running throughout the day.

At 6pm there will be a pub tug of war - teams of five, £5 per team entry – with beer prizes for the winning team, followed by live open air music.
