THE search is on for talented Pembrokeshire marketers to top the national’s park’s famous retro railway poster advertising campaign.

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) has launched a search for marketers to follow in the footsteps of the team behind the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority’s campaign which bagged a Canmol: Wales marketing award last year.

The Park Authority devised a strategy to promote the area as a destination for stay-cations and to encourage tourists to visit Pembrokeshire while in the UK.

Two bursts of ads went live on the London Underground and in train stations with good routes into London, to capture audiences visiting for the major events.

The Park also identified a series of hot-spots with good rail and road links into the Pembrokeshire area.

The first burst of ads, in May and July, used illustrations inspired by the old railway posters of the 1950s to capture a retro, nostalgic feel.

While the second burst followed in August and September and reflected the colour and mood of the changing season.

This year, the CIM is inviting SMEs and large corporate firms from across Pembrokeshire, in both the public and private sector, to enter its national Canmol awards.

There are gongs on offer for both individuals and teams who have achieved outstanding business results over the past year through truly innovative marketing campaigns.

For the first time in Canmol’s six-year history, its 27-strong judging panel, made up of academics and experts from across the marketing industry, will be split across the nine sector-based categories.

Richard Houdmont, CIM’s Director for Wales, said: “Canmol: Wales Marketing Awards celebrate the most innovative, eye-catching and ultimately most successful marketing campaigns implemented in Wales over the last year.

“Wales has an undeniably strong pool of marketing talent – that much is obvious by the quality of campaigns appearing from Welsh brands and businesses year on year.

Canmol enables us to reward these teams and individuals who are making waves in the industry, and I encourage any talented marketers – whether from small business or international brand – to enter their campaign.”

Canmol, meaning “to praise” in Welsh, will be judged under the chairmanship of Dr Jonathan Deacon, reader of marketing and entrepreneurship, University of South Wales and member of the CIM board of trustees.

Entries must be submitted by July 31, 2014 via the Canmol website (www.canmol.com) with winners announced at a glittering awards dinner, to be held at St David’s Hotel and Spa in Cardiff on October 10, 2014.
