THE CRUCIAL crew section of the Wales Ambulance Trust has been given a £500 boost thanks to a generous donation from the Dean Bevzy Evans Charity.

The trust will use this money to promote personal safety and first aid throughout primary and junior schools in Pembrokeshire.

Crew is an event which aims to provide an interactive way of teaching children to become more aware of personal safety, to learn how to react to dangerous situations and to provide children with an opportunity to practice safety skills in an exciting, stimulating and safe environment.

Matthew Dennison, from the Dean Bevzy Evans Charity, said: “The Dean Bevzy Evans Charity was delighted to donate to such a good cause, as our main objectives are to provide and assist in the provision of facilities, support services and equipment to help children of many disadvantages.

“The money donated by the charity has been raised from our annual cricket with a difference event and, most recently, our annual ball.”

The charity was formed in memory of Dean Evans who was attacked as he walked near his home in Pembroke in 2006. He died in August 2006, two days after the attack.

Since its inception the charity has raised about £75,000.
