ROCH Fun Dog Show returned on Saturday, July 26, attracting dozens and dogs and their owners.

Organised by SPPOT (Supporting People and Pets through Opportunity and Training), the event was the focal point of the village fete held at Victoria Hall.

There were a range of fun categories, such as the fastest dog in Roch, which was won by last year’s defending champion Banji the spaniel, and musical sit, won by Finn the Collie.

The other results were:

Fastest sausage eater – Beth with Cookie the Sprocket, dogstacle race - Jeremy with Darwin the Beagle, best trick - Sue with Banjy, best treat catcher - Lynn with Milly, best scruffy mutt - Maureen with Ross the Cockerpoo, best posh pooch - Pam with Teddy the Schnauzer, dog the judge would most like to take home - Emily with Tilly the Collie, the waggiest tail - Ann with Peader, best child and dog friendship – Tyler with Poppy the Jack Russell cross, dogstacle course winner - Jasmine with Herbie the Cockerpoo.

The best in show prize was awarded to Darwin the Beagle.

Kerri Bee from SPPOT said: “Darwin represented everything the show is about. He tried his hardest at everything, willingly going along with whatever event his family entered him into. He didn't win a lot but he had an absolute ball and so did all his family.”

Kerri added: “The spirit of the day really was to have fun with your dog and for the dogs to have as much fun as the people.”

The dog show raised £410 for SPPOT, which brings together the needs of people who have disabilities and long term health conditions with the needs of dogs.
