A PLANNING application to site a wind turbine in Manorowen has been submitted to Pembrokeshire County Council.

The applicant, William Idris James, is seeking permission to site the 34.5 metre structure on land at Hendre Wen.

Scleddau Community Council held a meeting on August 11 to discuss the proposal and it was resolved to support the application.

A local objector, who did not want to be named, said: “The proposed site is near the remains of Castell Hendre Wen Iron Age Fort at Panteg.

“Most of the Panteg residents do not want a third turbine there and they didn’t want the first two either.

“Living in Pembrokeshire is now becoming very unpleasant.”

The applicant’s agent Martin Horne said: “Hendrewen is a working dairy farm so the installation of a wind turbine will greatly reduce their increasing electricity costs.

“The site has a very good wind speed, allowing for significant separation distances to neighbouring residences, and it has been shown to be an acceptable location for turbines of this size by both the Local Planning Authority and Planning Inspectorate.

“I understand several neighbours and the local Scleddau council have already expressed support for the proposal.”

You can comment on the application by search the planning reference 14/0367/PA on the planning department of the county council’s website. The closing date for comments is September 10.
