A NEW outdoor work area has been unveiled at Ysgol Glannau Gwaun in Fishguard in memory of an outstanding former teacher.

The facilities were bought with funds raised by the Catrin Vaughan Foundation.

Catrin, aged 30 and from Crundale, used to teach a dozen children in the school’s learning research centre before her life was tragically cut short in a car accident just outside of Fishguard last April.

Her foundation also funded a recent school trip for the children and staff to Folly Farm and a commemorative tree which has been planted in the school playground.

Earlier this month a family fun day was held at Ysgol Glannau Gwaun on what would have been Catrin’s wedding day. She was due to marry Huw Thornton at St David’s Cathedral after getting engaged at Christmas in 2012.

And back in June, close to 300 tractors set off on a charity tractor run from Llys y Fran YFC, where Catrin was an active member of the committee. They raised closed to £11,000 for the Foundation on what was a fitting tribute day to the teacher.
