A CHARITY ball and auction will be held at Slebech Park on September 13 to raise funds for two soldier’s charities.

The fundraiser has been organised to support Corporal Chris Gouldsmith’s marathon challenge in memory of his twin brother Lance Corporal Jonathan Gouldsmith, who was killed in April 2011.

Chris, a Royal Engineer based in Tidworth, is taking on the ‘Run Goldie Run’ challenge by completing 10 marathons in just 11 days. He will be starting in Kinloss in Scotland on September 15 and finishing in his home town of Haverfordwest on September 25.

Chris from Hayscastle has a target of raising £20,000 for REME Charitable Trust and Combat Stress.

He said: “I’ve had a lot of friends go under the radar and even take their lives over post traumatic stress disorder and not enough people are aware of it.

“And REME CCT has had a big part with supporting my family and I through our loss and I would like to give something back to them and thank them for all they have done.”

The charity auction features some great prizes, including a week’s holiday on the island of Gozo, Cheltenham Literary Festival tickets with Judi Dench, a ride at Jonathan Portman’s racing stables at Newbury and a golfing day at Ashridge Golf Club.

Tickets cost £60 and include a three course meal. Entertainment will be provided by the Mustangs and Decades Disco.

Tickets can be purchased from Castle Photography , Letterston Village Store and by calling 07967 973462.
