LESS than a week remains to see the work of one of Britain’s most famous artists in St Davids.

Llareggub: Peter Blake illustrates Dylan Thomas’s Under Milk Wood has been on show at Oriel y Parc since May, attracting hundreds of visitors.

The exhibition forms part of a Welsh Government-sponsored festival, Dylan Thomas 100. It includes three distinct groups of work: portraits of the characters, a series of watercolours illustrating the dream sequences at the beginning of the play and a group of works described as ‘topographical’, which includes scenes and locations from the play.

To bring the exhibition to a close, a talk will be given by journalist and leading biographer Andrew Lycett at Ysgol Dewi Sant on Saturday, September 20.

He is the author of ‘Dylan Thomas: A New Life’. It was written in 2003 and was chosen by Jan Morris of The Times as her biography of the year, referring to it as “majestically thorough, readable and compassionate”.

Mr Lycett has written many highly celebrated biographies including Ian Fleming and Conan Doyle – The Man Who Created Sherlock Holmes.

Starting out as a journalist, he travelled in India, Africa and the Middle East, with regular visits to Libya which inspired his first book Qaddafi and the Libyan Revolution (with his Sunday Times colleague, the late David Blundy).

His Dylan Thomas talk on Saturday will provide the audience with the chance to gain further insight into the man who so inspired Sir Peter Blake.

It starts at 7pm and tickets cost £5 and £4 concession. To book call 01437 720392.
