THIRTY-seven Paul Sartori Foundation fundraisers are gearing up to take part in a challenge of a life time, to raise vital funds for Pembrokeshire’s only ‘Hospice at Home’ charity.

Tomorrow (Thursday) the team will set off from the Foundation’s Haverfordwest headquarters and fly to Nepal, where they will hike across the rugged terrain of the Himalayan Annapurna, reaching heights of over 3000 meters.

The Himalayan Trek Team members have raised at least £2800 each to take part in the challenge.

The dedicated bunch have also paid out for specialist trekking equipment and clothing, plus they have collectively given up 280 days of annual leave in order to support the local charity.

Trekkers have spent the last year getting fit for the challenge, participating in practice walks on the Pembrokeshire coastal path and hikes across Snowdon, Cadar Idris and the Brecon Beacons.

The Paul Sartori Foundation provides hands-on care and equipment loan directly into the homes of people living in the later stages of life limiting illnesses.

The charity aims to enable people to die at home, if that is their choice, with the dignity they deserve and surrounded by those they hold most dear.

Over £850,000 a year is required to fund these services.

If you would like to support the Himalayan Trek challenge, please send a donation to The Paul Sartori Foundation, 31 Haven Road, Haverfordwest, SA61 1DU, or buy a £2 raffle ticket to win a Kia Rio car from any of the Foundation’s shops.
