A PHOTOGRAPHY competition has not only revealed stunning pictures of west Wales but also unearthed the talent of Laurence Hammerton from Eglwyswrw.

Laurence’s photo of Bwlch Nant yr Arian fought off strong competition to be chosen to appear in a unique calendar.

The competition, organised by local heating oil and lubricants distributor, OJ Williams, invited amateur photographers to submit images that best represented landscapes and wildlife across the seasons.

Laurence's winning image will be printed in the company’s annual calendar and distributed to thousands of customers.

Wayne John, regional manager at OJ Williams, said: “The standard of entries was extremely high, however Laurence’s image really stood out as it captures the local area perfectly.

“As a company, it is important for us to engage with the community and give something back to the area we serve. Our calendar competition gave people with a passion for photography the opportunity to have their work published.”

Laurence said: “I’ve always been interested in photography, so when I heard about the competition, I was really eager to enter.

“West Wales has so many picturesque locations and wonderful spots to capture landscapes and wildlife. I am pleased that my picture is going to be used in the calendar and hope it brings much enjoyment to all who see it.”
