A TALENTED fashion designer from Llangwm has fought off stiff competition to win the opportunity of a lifetime.

Kai Stewart had a lifelong ambition of designing her own clothes and so left her job in a solicitor's office to go back into full time education.

After years of hard work, she is now living her dream and managing her own company called Jaxxon House.

The online boutique launched earlier this year and sells quirky garments that are also stylish and wearable.

Kai recently won ‘Top New Graduate Designer’ with The Clothes Show Live and ASOS.

She said: “Thousands of designers would have applied as it is such a fantastic platform to get your label noticed.”

Kai’s prize includes her very own stand for Jaxxon House at The Clothes Show Live, which takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from December 5-9.

Kai will also have her designs featured on the catwalk at the show and on the ASOS website for a year free of charge, with the added bonus of the retailer actively promoting Jaxxon House.

“I was absolutely ecstatic to win,” said Kai. “After being told I was through to the finals I kept checking my emails every half an hour for weeks afterwards to see if there was any news. When I finally got the email to say I had been selected I was screaming down the phone to my boyfriend and mum!”

This is not Kai’s first taste of success. She was shortlisted for a competition with River Island and had one of her designs from her graduate collection included in London Graduate Fashion Week.

Kai’s work has also featured on S4C and as a result has been contacted by singer and TV presenter Elin Fflur who wants to wear her designs for her album cover and on tour.
